You Are What You Eat: Building A Balanced Plate For Every Meal

Hey there, Fitness Fanatics! When it comes to staying healthy and fit, eating right is just as essential as an excellent workout routine. That’s why we’re here to help guide you on how to build a balanced plate for every meal.

What Is A Balanced Plate?

Imagine your plate is a clock: from 12 to 6, you’ve got half of your plate; from 6 back to 12, you’ve got the other half. Now, let’s fill it up the healthy way!

Pile on the Veggies

Half of your plate— from 12 to 6— should be filled with vegetables. Go wild! The brighter, the better. Veggie options like broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, and zucchini are all great choices. They’re low in calories but high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Add Some Protein

Alright, let’s focus on the next quarter of your plate, the space from 6 to 9. It’s protein time! This can be lean cuts of meat, poultry, fish, eggs, or plant-based proteins like beans and lentils. Proteins are essential for building and repairing muscles, especially after a solid workout at XM Xtra Mile Fitness.

Don’t Forget The Whole Grains

Last but not least, the final quarter of your plate— from 9 to 12— should be dedicated to whole grains. These might be foods like brown rice, whole grain pasta, or quinoa. Whole grains are packed with fiber which helps keep you feeling full and satisfied.

Healthy Fats – Use Sparingly

A balanced plate wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of fat. But make sure it’s the good kind! Avocados, olives, nuts, and seeds offer heart-healthy fats. Remember though— these are high in calories, so a small amount goes a long way.

Drink Plenty Of Water

Don’t forget to hydrate. Water is a key part of any healthy diet. It helps transport nutrients to your muscles, keeps you hydrated during workouts, and can even help curb your appetite. Swap out sugary beverages for a fresh glass of water whenever you can.

Take The First Step Towards Balance

Building a balanced plate for every meal is a great first step towards a healthier, happier you. And remember— balanced eating goes hand in hand with a balanced workout routine. At XM Xtra Mile Fitness, we aim to provide both to help you on your fitness journey.
